What is the law regarding child seats?

The safest place for any passenger regardless of age is in the center of the rear seat of any car. A child under the age of one (1) and weighing less the 20 pounds should be riding in a rear-facing child passenger restraint system. Any child under the age of six (6) or weighing less then 60 pounds must be secured in a federally approved child passenger restraint system and ride in the back seat of a vehicle. A child under the age of 12 should be riding in the back of a car equipped with air-bags.
